DERMAL FILLERS
Skin fillers are more commonly used in the lower
third of the face, to correct deeper skin creases and
sometimes to provide lip enhancement. They can
also be used elsewhere to correct skin folds and creases
that are beyond prevention/treatment by Botox.
In the case of lip enhancement, there is often a decrease
in lip volume as the result of the ageing process, and
there is also a loss of the definition of the margin
between the red lip and the skin. As things
progress, many women will also gradually develop vertical
lip lines, especially with exposure to the sun and smoking.
The filler we primarily use consists of Hyaluronic acid. This
is compound which occurs naturally in the body, and is
synthetically manufactured, avoiding the risk of allergy
reaction that can occur for example with collagens.
The process in invasive, a local anaesthetic is usually
required, and there may be a minor amount of local swelling
or tenderness after the procedure.
The effects of dermal fillers last for anything up to
a year.
